01 / THE WORKFLOW

Workflow

Snake Eyes connects Premiere to an external editing assistant through a local companion. The pilot does not include a model or cloud inference subscription.

01

Write a brief

Write the brief and choose a selects priority: balanced, body language and complete gestures, or composition and visual detail.

02

Import and review

Use your assistant to review footage and prepare an edit. Import it into a dedicated Snake Eyes bin, then review it in Premiere.

03

Compare revisions

Capture a baseline, revise the edit and compare retained source ranges. This measures overlap, not editorial quality.

FEATURES

Included tools

01

Selects priorities

Choose balanced selects, complete gestures, or composition and visual detail.

02

Import bins

New XML imports get a dedicated Snake Eyes work bin. Review the imported picture, audio and sequence before continuing.

03

Source-range comparison

Compare source ranges before and after revisions. Optionally use local comparison history in later requests.

PROJECT DEFAULTS

No preset style.

New projects start with a blank brief and neutral defaults. The download contains no saved project choices or learning history. Remembered choices use your local state folder.

02 / INSTALLATION

Setup

Download the complete pilot bundle above, then follow these steps. Keep the panel and companion on the same version.

Requirements

Premiere Pro, Adobe UXP Developer Tools, Node.js 18 or newer, and an external editing assistant.

Tested on the development Mac with Premiere Pro 2026. Clean-machine installation and broader host compatibility are still being evaluated.

  1. Extract the complete release

Keep the companion folder beside Snake_Eyes.ccx. Open a terminal in the companion folder.

  2. Check and initialize

Run the check first. Continue only if it reports "ok": true. Initialize only for a new installation.

    node bridge/v5-doctor.js
    node bridge/v5-setup.js --initialize
  3. Load and connect

In UXP Developer Tools, add the companion's plugin/manifest.json and load it. In Premiere, open Snake Eyes, choose Connect Codex bridge, and select that companion's bridge/state folder.

  4. Check the connection

    node bridge/v5-connection-check.js

A connected result confirms that the matching panel answered. Save your project, activate the intended sequence, then export your edit brief.

03 / SUPPORT

Troubleshooting

Start with the symptom below. Keep your state folder and recovery records intact while troubleshooting.

Contact support

For Premiere pilot help, email support@getsnakeeyes.com. Include a concise report; do not send private footage or an entire state folder.

Prepare a support report →

The bridge will not connect

Keep Premiere and the panel open. Confirm the panel and companion have the same version and use the same state folder. Run the connection check from the matching companion.

A timeout can leave a read-only status request queued. Do not delete the queue or recovery history to fix it.

I use a custom state folder

Select that exact folder in the panel, then set the companion's environment variable in your terminal. Replace the example with your actual path.

macOS / zsh

export V5_BRIDGE_STATE_DIR="/path/to/Snake Eyes State"

Windows / PowerShell

$env:V5_BRIDGE_STATE_DIR = 'C:\path\to\Snake Eyes State'

Windows host installation remains unverified. See GETTING_STARTED.md in the release for the complete instructions.

The installation check failed

Extract a fresh, matching release. Do not regenerate the integrity manifest or mix files from different versions. Setup does not repair an existing incomplete state folder.

I need to upgrade

Finish pending operations and keep the previous build. Extract the new release into a separate folder, run its installation check, unload the old panel, then load the new matching panel.

Reconnect to your existing state folder and configure the companion to use it. Never replace current history with an old snapshot.

How do I gather diagnostics?

Run the local self-test and support report from the companion folder:

node bridge/v5-self-test.js
node bridge/v5-support-report.js

These commands do not upload a report. Review the output before sharing it with your pilot contact. Do not send footage or the entire state folder as a diagnostic report.

Does Snake Eyes automatically review my footage?

No. The current panel exports direction and provides local editing tools. External assistant performs the review. Ask it to distinguish sampled-frame review from continuous playback, and check the result in Premiere.
